Join Marsh Youth Theater for an inspired program of dance, theater, music and visual art. MainStage Summer will celebrate the fortieth anniversary of 1968 – a year of tumultuous social change that gave rise to exciting creativity. We will explore the arts that rose from the 1960’s: from pop art to The Twist. Together we will create an original musical theater/dance production. This workshop will culminate in a spectacular performance for family and friends.
MainStage students explore the power of their own creativity while learning about the richness of world cultures and history. The multi-disciplinary nature of the program allows each child to shine both behind the scenes and on stage. Students develop a strong ensemble that fosters self-confidence and lasting friendships.
MainStage Summer is a three-week workshop. Students rotate through classes of drama, music, dance, and set construction taught by professional artists. Students may select a theater ‘emphasis’ that allow them extra time each day in the discipline of their choice. Our workshop culminates in three thrilling performances of a spectacular show. Everyone is a star!
MainStage teachers are professional artists with years of experience teaching youth. 1968 will be directed by world renowned theater director/choreographer Russell Wright with the amazing and talented vocal teacher Shannon Day and the hip urban visual artist, Alex Bargas. Each day of this two-week camp will be a fabulously fun day of enriching theater experiences. Working together as an ensemble, we will engage our bodies and imagination through acting, dancing, music and visual art. Theater Creations will culminate in a final performance of an original piece of theater based on one of the world’s great myths as we celebrate our work as a creative community.
