“In an auspicious debut as a playwright, Katz displays a keen mastery of contemporary business language, character development, and an ability to find the simplest human elements peeking out of the drab, dehumanizing environment of a large multinational corporation’s office.” –George Heymont of My Cultural Landscape

“Very cleverly done. Ironic, stereotypical but, finally, poignant.” –Repeat Performances

“Hilarious! Julie Katz’s funny, astute one-person look at corporate culture onstage at The Marsh is a welcome addition to today’s theater scene.” -–San Francisco Examiner

“Highly creative and comic…julie Katz keeps us in stitches with some scenes that probably hit too close to home for some seated before her.” –Talkin’ Broadway

“I easily identified Katz’s creations both as stereotypes and composites. And pinpointedly real Bay Area characters.” –Marinscope

“GO SEE GREY MATTER — but only if, like everyone else in America, you find corporate-speak hilarious as well as undecipherable. Julie Katz’s ‘Grey Matter’ had us snorting and sniveling with laughter.” -Doug Konecky of SF TheaterBlog

Grey Matter is a comedic solo show about The Company, a San Francisco organization that you probably work for. Julie Katz embodies a host of male and female characters as she portrays your social committee president, your IT team member, your legal counsel, the new guy, that woman from marketing, and all your other core-value-living co-workers who just want to do their jobs and enjoy their proximity to the artisanal hot chocolate dispenser. However the Company is getting bigger, and not everyone is along for the ride. Grey Matter takes a close look at the environments we try to create in this satire on modern corporate culture. Come see how The Company employees deal with the matter that is not all black and white, because you might discover you’re part of their team too.
