Show Description
This 90 minute, cabaret-style experience blends the soulful power of Shirley Bassey’s music with the sharp tongue and wicked charm of East Bay drag icon Viva Commotion. The result is an unapologetically bold, highly interactive, and hilariously raunchy solo performance exploring fame, heartbreak, reinvention, and the fabulous mess of aging with glitter and grit.
Complimentary at 7:00 pm: Chef Nini Ross of Granny’s Kitchen FT, Oakland, Ca. will be serving up baked potato goodness with their signature baked potato bar featuring xl potatoes and 10 toppings that will tantalize your tastebuds
Artist Biography
Viva Commotion is a dynamic cabaret performer, and theatrical tour-de-force whose bold stage presence and magnetic voice have captivated audiences throughout California and beyond. Known for her razor-sharp humor and unapologetic flair, Viva is equal parts showgirl and storyteller—using music, comedy, and charisma to challenge norms and celebrate the power of self-expression.
A veteran of the Bay Area performance scene, Viva blends old-school glamour with contemporary edge, drawing inspiration from legends like Shirley Bassey, Bette Midler, and Eartha Kitt. Her signature style? Sequins, sass, and songs that pack a punch. With a background in live theater, community activism, and drag performance, she brings authenticity and artistry to every stage she graces.
Her latest show, Viva Commotion: The Bytch is Back, is a genre-bending, one-diva spectacular that combines Broadway bravado with backroom cabaret. Featuring powerhouse numbers, comedic interludes, and moments of heartfelt vulnerability, the show is both a celebration and a reclamation—a dazzling homecoming for a queen who’s lived, loved, and lip-synced through it all.
Off-stage, Viva is deeply committed to creating inclusive spaces for queer and BIPOC performers. She regularly partners with local nonprofits, LGBTQIA+ organizations, and fellow artists to ensure that drag and cabaret remain vital tools for joy, resistance, and representation.
Whether she’s commanding a solo spotlight or lifting up her community, Viva Commotion is proof that sometimes the most powerful thing you can be… is too much.
