Marketing & Anniversary Campaign Intern

Description:

We are seeking an intern who appreciates The Marsh Theater, solo performances, or venues that actively encourage new creative voices, and wants to help us promote and celebrate all The Marsh has done in the last 30 years. In 1989, Stephanie Weisman, the theater’s founder and artistic director, started The Marsh because she wanted a place for writers and performers like herself to easily develop their performances. Since then, The Marsh has grown to two theaters (in the Mission district of San Francisco & downtown Berkeley) with over 600 shows a year and offers performance classes and events for both adults and youth.

Come join our team as we ramp up for our 30th Anniversary in 2019 with special projects and events! This is a great opportunity for someone who wants to hone their skills in marketing, and special events and projects, while having the unique chance to work directly with a theater founder and artistic director.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Support special 30th Anniversary projects
  • Manage marketing and partnership research
  • Promote upcoming shows at The Marsh
  • Manage transcriptions and archives to prepare for a book and other special projects
Qualifications:
  • Passion for The Marsh’s mission, storytelling or performance, or marketing and special events
  • Self-driven, able to track own progress on multiple projects
  • Experience in marketing preferred
  • Highly skilled in efficiently organizing documents and files
  • Very strong computer/digital skills including:
    • MS Office
    • Googledocs
    • Using Mac OS X
Internship Details:
  • Part-time (10-20 hours per week)
  • Unpaid internship
  • Start sate as soon as possible, with a minimum 3-month commitment

Marketing/Social Media Fellow

Description:

The Marsh is expanding and integrating its marketing activities into social networking and online networks. We are seeking someone that has experience with social media but is also interested in diving deeper into analytics. Examples: How many conversations is a photo getting vs a video? How many shares does a close up photo get vs a group shot? the Marketing Intern will work closely with the Marketing Director and other staff to implement marketing tactics to improve ticket sales for The Marsh performances.

Internship Requirements:

The ideal person is someone who is detail-oriented, computer-savvy, committed to finishing tasks and loves new challenges and ideas. Self-motivation and strong people skills are essential. We are especially interested in people that have a deep interest in theater but also nerd out over analytics. We are a small team on a tight budget that is putting on over 600 performances a year. We are looking for an intern that can help us as we move to the next level of digital marketing. Must be creative but also excel in administrative work.

Experience in the following preferable but not necessary if the candidate is willing to quickly become an expert!

What sets your internship apart?

Not only will you assist the Marketing Director in executing marketing campaigns, social media posts, and tracking results, but you will gain knowledge in all aspects of running a theater company. The Marsh creates a well-rounded working and learning experience for its interns. Interns will get a chance to be apart of a dynamic, creative, and hardworking group of theater professionals.

Description of the Ideal Candidate:

Self starter, diligent worker who is creative but also willing to grow within a role that is a combination of marketing and admin work. Someone who can quickly learn and problem solve. Someone who can engage with performers, patrons, and donors.
