The Hummingbird is a high wire musical ride, a true story of love, loss, music and madness; a story of survival, bringing us into a world where genius crosses the line to insanity and love becomes the enemy. Understanding, humor, inspiration and resilience are woven into the characters of the show. The music and lyrics give voice to those asking; how do we handle our most difficult experiences and remain familiar to our-selves, changed though we are, how do we stay truly alive?
About the Artist
Kathryn Keats has been in theatre and other aspects of show business her entire life. She earned a Drama Critics Circle Award for her performance in the original stage version of Curse of the Werewolf, directed by the great Albert Takazauckas.
Pianist, Pete Sears, Jefferson Starship/Hot Tuna, produced her EP, Goin Home, “Kathryns haunting songs and heartfelt vocals reflect her unique experiences and her considerable talent”, quotes Sears. Grammy Award winning producer, Narada Michael Walden, collaborated with her on one of her favorite works, Count On Me, “Kat is bringing the message of hope, light, love and faith to people’s lives,” Walden says. “I am proud of her and her mission.”
Kathryn began working on her musical, The Hummingbird at Berkeley Repertory’s The Ground Floor and after that residency was completed she was fortunate to discover David Ford at The Marsh where Hummingbird became a solo Musical.
She is currently writing a new musical play at The Marsh titled Welthy Cade.
Kathryn has been a member of Actors Equity for forty years. And SAG-AFTRA almost as long. That adds up to quite a few shows and a whole lot of wonderful friends.
