About the Show
The Translator is a heartfelt dramedy that explores the complexities of communication (or the lack thereof) in relationships. T, an unconventional “couples therapist,” uses a unique and innovative method to help their clients embrace honesty, transparency, and openness while navigating their own relationship struggles.
The Andrew Conti Workshop is a performance art workshop. It is named after a bay area musician and artist who had his own struggles with addiction and mental health issues, but found solace and joy through creativity, and was able to find his path to sobriety and happiness. It was after his tragic accidental death in 2023 that Dr. Senadhi Parakrama and his mother Kathryn Keats, who is a performance artist herself, came together to develop the Andrew Conti performance art workshop.
The purpose of the workshop is to help participants process experiences that may be too complex or painful to express through words alone, and to give voice to stories that are often hidden by shame, fear, or isolation. Participants develop original monologues and performance pieces based on significant moments in their lives, using the creative process as a vehicle for reflection, healing, and connection.
The inaugural workshop culminated in the production of ‘Roofing,’ a screenplay Andrew was developing shortly before his passing. The story explores themes of confinement, longing, community, and the search for freedom. To honor Andrew’s vision, Kathryn and Senadhi adapted the screenplay for the stage, weaving together the personal experiences of workshop participants with the themes of the original work.
Each season, the workshop presents a new story that serves as a creative container for the personal narratives of that year’s cast. Through this process, individual experiences become part of a larger collective work, fostering connection, understanding, and the transformative power of storytelling.
Artist Biographies
Senadhi Parakrama – Director Dr. Senadhi Parakrama is a licensed clinical psychologist and author of Recovery Map Workbook, currently serving as the Chief Clinical Officer for Sonoma Recovery Services, where he directs clinical programming and development for both the Olympia House Residential and Olympia House Intensive Outpatient Programs. These programs have been dedicated to offering comprehensive residential and outpatient services since their establishment in 2013, catering to individuals grappling with substance use disorders and co-occurring mental health challenges. Despite their struggles, many of the clients that went through these programs were also extremely talented musicians, singers, dancers, and artists. As a result of his experiences with them Dr. Parakrama had an idea to develop a performance art workshop or program to have art and performance be a vehicle for both expressing emotions and building community. In 2022 the non profit Sonoma Foundation for Behavioral Health (SFBH) was developed with the vision of extending education, training, support, and resources to underrepresented and under-resourced populations in Sonoma County. As President of SFBH, Dr. Parakrama launched the Andrew Conti Workshop, a performance art workshop, as its inaugural project within the community.
Mary Darling – The Translator – is a New England-based playwright and director committed to bringing relatable, non-traditional experiences to the stage. She’s intrigued by the human experience in all its glory and believes theatre cultivates much needed connection and reflection. Recent credits include On Our Terms (The Forge Theater, 2019; Balefire Productions, 2022; Museful Intent, 2023), Average Hospital (Museful Intent, 2024), and Period (Museful Intent, 2025), Strawberry Shortcake (Boston Theater Marathon XXVI), and Park Bench (Fresh Fruit Festival, Playwrights Platform Festival, Open Space Arts SPF 2024). Mary was the 2024–2025 Women in Film Fellowship recipient from the Shawna Shea Memorial Foundation and is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild. She’s thrilled to be the 2026 recipient of the Andrew Conti Workshop and is honored to be part of a program that creates a safe space for processing and healing.
Kathryn Keats – Producer
Kathryn Keats is a Drama Critics Circle Award-winning performance artist, playwright, and teaching artist. Marsh audiences may recognize Kathryn from The Hummingbird, written by Keats and Kevin Gerzevitz directed by David Ford or from readings of 180 Days, a play by The Marsh’s Creative Director and playwright Stephanie Weisman. She is the co-writer of Roofing, written with Andrew JJ Conti and Dr. Senadhi Parakrama, which played to standing-room-only audiences during ACW’s Season I. She recently directed Ali MacLean’s Final Resting Place in New York City. The Hummingbird will be presented at United Solo in New York in spring 2027 and is slated for a New York run in the fall. She is a member of Actors’ Equity Association,SAG-AFTRA, BMI, and the Dramatists Guild. Kathryn lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband, actor Richard Conti.
Sean Mullen – Producer
For more than 25 years, Sean Mullen has stood at the intersection of technology and education. As Co-Founder and CEO of Engage Systems, a key technology partner to Adobe Systems. Sean helps government, commercial, and non-profit organizations build seamless online and live training ecosystems. His commitment to excellence has garnered Engage Systems four Adobe Partner of the Year awards. When he isn’t transforming digital learning, Sean enjoys life in beautiful Philo, CA. As a fifth-generation Californian, he stays connected to his roots through volunteer work, cooking, traveling, and the great outdoors.
Angela Ho – Artist
Angela is the artist, illustrator, and storyteller behind A.T.H. Art. She has been creating art since childhood, and after a fulfilling career as a psychiatric nurse, she transitioned to a full-time artist, sharing her journey on YouTube. Her work is deeply influenced by her experiences and is inspired by the beauty of nature and the complexities of mental health.
