THE OAKLAND RAIDERS, TRUE CRIME, &
COMING OF AGE IN SF
Written & Performed by Chuck (CW) Nevius
Directed by David Ford
November 16 – December 15 | San Francisco
Fridays at 8pm | Saturdays at 8:30pm
Show Description
I came to SF 38 years ago from a small newspaper in Colorado Springs. Assigned to cover the Oakland Raiders by the San Francisco Chronicle, they took me on a wild ride to the Super Bowl. I also got involved in covering the story of a shocking sexual assault case at USF, featuring an All-American basketball player. And along the way I learned a lot, including from a crusty, chain-smoking editor from — of all places — Oklahoma.
Artist Biography
Chuck Nevius was a sports columnist at the Chronicle for 20 years, covering the Super Bowl, World Series, NBA Championship, Final Four, Masters golf and World Cup Soccer. He covered eight Olympic Games in Australia, Korea, Japan, Spain, Norway, France, Canada and . . . strangest of all . . . Los Angeles. He then moved to news side and wrote a column called “On San Francisco.” It covered the issues and politics in the city. When he retired in 2016, San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee declared it “Chuck Nevius Day.”
