Kate has everything she’s ever dreamed of…but so does Kate’s husband’s girlfriend. With a polyamory therapist and a sex-positive ethos, Kate begins a polyamorous marriage that goes wrong. A story of his and her. And hers. And his. And sex. And therapy. And love.
This follow-up to the award-winning Ain’t That Rich, which ran for seven weeks at The Marsh in the fall of 2017, is filled with emotionally nuanced storytelling. A riveting sexcapade of love, betrayal, and friendship! “Best Bet” at NYC’s FRIGID 2018 Festival.
Hillarious and heartbreaking… thoughtful, emotional lessons and powerful finale.” The Washington Post
“Comedian, Kate Robards, delivers a spellbinding narrative about friendship, true love and an open relationship from hell. A must see!” Stellar Underground (Gotham Storytelling NYC review)
“Robards knows how to drop a punchline and put together a tightly wound, joke-focused story.” Theasy (Best of Frigid NYC Fest)
“Robards is a true gem who has audience members chuckling one moment and tearing up the next.” Montreal Theatre Hub
“With her experience in stand-up, Robards knows how to drop a punchline and put together a tightly wound, joke-focused story.” Theasy (New York review)
“Robards leaves us with a brave tale, told expertly. Another brilliant evening of theatre!” DC Theatre Scene
“Robards’ onstage personality and knack for comedic delivery make this unique story immensely enjoyable.” Theasy (New York review)
“You don’t need to be up on your poly acronyms to enjoy this heartful, funny, and open show about Kate Robards’ journey into and out of a polyamorous marriage…”
“Where the show really gets its guts, though, is the tension Robards has as someone of less material means married to one who has abundant means.” Montreal Rampage
