Show Description
“Courage Under Fire” is a story about family, race, politics, and redemption. The work explores the extraordinary life of Simpson’s father, Elroy Simpson. It’s a very personal story of transcendence from Jim Crow’s insanity towards personal fulfillment through a single revolutionary act. I trace four generations of the Simpson family to understand the evolution of my father’s action to appreciate its significance to him and those of us around him. “Courage Under Fire” is a multimedia theater work based on text, video, and projections.
