Show Description
Don Reed’s “East 14th” chronicled the 70s – and now it’s his true misadventures through the 80s. As the awkward son of a pimp struggled through college, he tried being a stripper and a gigolo–but he ended up serving breakfast at an unforgettable retirement hotel full of the fascinating elderly, wild drifters, slick actors, and drug addicted dreamers.
Artist Biography
Don Reed, (HBO/Snap Judgment/CBS) a San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critics Circle Nominee, NAACP Triple Nominee for Best Actor & Best Playwright and 2016 Theater Bay Area Outstanding Solo Show WINNER – is presently playing one of the lead roles in a streaming bound comedy series backed by major players from the Broadway smash “HAMILTON” including co-financing and recurring role starring composer/creator Lin Manuel Miranda. Don has a role in the feature film “UNLEASHED” – co-starring two of the leads from Showtime’s “SHAMELESS” being released this August 2017. He has performed, written and directed for film, television and theater. A memorable performance on an HBO Partners and Crime Special of up-and-coming comedians years ago caught the attention of some Hollywood guns and led to many recurring and guest starring roles. You may have heard his voice on: Spiderman, Johnny Quest, SNL and most recently as the voice of the cat on 2 Broke Girls. Additionally, Don has written, directed, produced and starred in short films for HBO Shorts. Reed was the opening act/warm-up comedian for The Tonight Show with Jay Leno for over 1,000 episodes, and recently won 2016 NPR/WYNC’s Snap Judgment Performance of the Year. It was so compelling that it will be woven into the graduate writing curriculum at American University in D.C.
