About the Show

The Clown Prince of Fools is back with classic slapstick humor, hambone hijinks, and silly shenanigans in his annual foolishly fun show that invites audience members (ages 3 and up) to dive into the imagination of Unique Derique.

After the performance, join the 20-minute circus fun with Unique Derique in a Hambone and juggling workshop for the whole family!

NOTE: For those who are sensitive to strobe lights, please be aware that they are used briefly during a portion of the show.

About the Performer

Unique Derique is a longtime San Francisco Bay Area favorite whose dual careers merge the performing arts and healing with the belief that the world can be a brighter place, one laugh—and one breath—at a time.

The “Clown Prince” comes out to play with classic physical comedy in performances that have spanned the globe in South Africa, Scotland, Taipei, London, Paris, and Tokyo, with TV appearances including PBS-KQED, Univision, and the Disney Channel. His clowny past includes the famed Pickle Family Circus, Children’s Fairyland, Prescott Circus Theatre, and Bread and Roses Presents and sharing the stage with entertainers such as Bobby McFerrin, The Temptations, Laura Nyro, Tuck and Patti, and Lou Rawls. Fool La La plays annually at The Marsh with a delightfully different twist each season.

Described as “exhilarating,” the San Francisco Examiner has said of Derique, “he leaves them laughing coast to coast.” Hailed by The New York Times for his Hambone skill, he has also been lauded by the San Francisco Chronicle, who declared, “Derique will be back… remember the name.”

When not bringing joy to all ages as a clown, alter-ego Lance McGee is a Trauma-Informed Wellness Consultant, Drama Therapist, and Mindfulness Coach providing support to school educators, administrators, staff, and students. He also leads workshops on trauma-informed care practices and mindfulness for non-profit organizations, health clinics, colleges and educational systems.
