“Bad Ass Boots” has performed in the Bay Area and at California Festivals: El Rio, High Street Station, Cafe Leila, Hotel Utah, Caffe Trieste, La Pena Cultural Center, Sonoma Pride Festival, Women’s Weekend 2.0 Festival and Fabulosa Womyn’s Music Festival at Walker Ranch & Spinning Wheel in Yosemite! Bad Ass Boots was co billed at WitZend in Venice, CA with Marky Lennon from the band VENICE. Audiences love to listen and to line dance to our music!
Artist Biography
Karen Ripley (Comedy Opener) came on to the gay comedy scene in 1977 in San Francisco. From the cover of the East Bay Express (Berkeley, Ca) with Whoopi Goldberg to Ms. Magazines top 100 Lesbian Comic 2009. 2005 SF Fringe Best Musical Comedy with Annie Larson in the original play “Show Me where it Hurts,” and 2006 Diva Fest. with “waiting for FEMA.” Ripley has traveled all over the USA and the Caribbean. Featured in Logo’s Wisecracks episode 2. Karen played Penny the Plumber is Margo Dean’s 2022 production of “Lesbian Straights”
Billie Burnor (Vocals & Guitar), Burnor’s sultry vocal style has been compared to Lucinda Williams. Founding member of LA based band The Mustangs-opened shows for legendary King of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, Rosie Flores, Jeffrey Steele, Dave Alvin & the Blasters.
Shazam (Harp & Vocals) aka Suzanne Cimone, firey blues harp maiden, played in Wild Angels, Wild Oats, Average Dyke Band- she has her own band “Suzanne Cimone and Pieces of Gold”.
Billie Duffey (Bass) plays with guitarist, Pat Duffey in The Sheets & Spiral Dance Chamber Jazz . Her unusual bass lines give Bad Ass Boots its unique flair.
Joyce Baker (Drums) Tasty fills, groove meister for every song; has been playing drums since she was a child with her famous father “Buddy” Baker. Played & recorded with Mel Graves, George Marsh, Opie Bellas, Lea DeLaria, Mimi Fox, Amy Meyers, Liquid Girlfriend, Nicholas Glover & Wray.
Pat Duffey (Lead Guitar & Pedal Steel) has influences of Michael Hedges and Iona. Pat’s songwriting and guitar style is a combo of rock, celtic and country. He’s toured with The Imperials and has shared the stage with Bob Marley and Wailers, Earth Wind and Fire, Booker T. and the MG’s, Tower of Power, Sylvester, Stanley Clark, and more.
Lisa Nemzo (Rhythm Guitar, Vocals) International known recording artist , producer and Emmy Nominated Songwriter, Lisa Nemzo shared the stage with Ray Charles, Hall & Oates, David Crosby, Bonnie Raitt, Heart and others. Nemzo is known for her over-the-neck harmonic 12 string guitar solos. She was a staff writer in Nashville for TV and film.
