Show Description

Grandma’s Million Dollar Scheme is a Comedy-Drama solo performance, based on a mostly true story, with a few fictional moments, that tells a story about race, class, greed, and our criminal justice system which has so many loopholes for white-collar criminals who never end up doing time. I draw on my interactions with my students at the local jail, and my experiences as a spiritual teacher there for 10 years, and on my journey as a Get-Rich quick real estate agent in my late twenties in San Francisco who falls victim to a grandma who has a clever scheme of her own.

Artist Biography

Koorosh Ostowari’s multiple identities are indivisible. At all times, he’s the following: A playwright, actor/solo performer, contemporary painter, author, public speaker, a real estate entrepreneur in San Francisco, California, and certified naturalist and environmental advocate, engaging in the study of local Marin County flora and fauna, including birds. He has been awarded the certificate of acknowledgement by the U.S. Congress and has been acknowledged by the California State legislature for his work as a leader of change in the San Francisco Bay Area.

His process and concepts as a multidisciplinary artist: Koorosh’s solo performances, writings and paintings are responsive to the current societal norms, values, and socio-political context that need exploration, re-evaluation, and understanding. His creative work responds to space, place, time, and people, reflecting his belief that art and creative expression can be committed to interconnection and freedom. Ultimately his journalistic-style theater performances, book, paintings, reflect a visual representation of human potential, connection, inclusion, and compassion. In times of divisiveness, mindless consumerism, rampant greed, racism, climate change, and mental health crisis, he uses art to show us a potential path forward. He seeks to understand what role art plays as a catalyst for change, and he invites you to do the same in your own unique and special way. He strongly believes that we are all co-creators on a planet destined for change, and hopefully transformation for the good of all.
