Calling all storytellers! We are now accepting submission for the Monday Night Marsh fall 2022 series! The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 6, 2022
~ WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR ~
TYPE OF PERFORMANCE: We are looking for performers of all stripes: solo performers, monologuists, contortionists, spoken word poets, movement artists, comedians, and the list goes on. Please be aware that Monday Night Marsh is fairly minimal in terms of tech, so if you have a large band or need a lot of extra technical support, we may not be able to accommodate all of your needs.
OFF BOOK: Unless discussed with us ahead of time, all performers should be OFF BOOK; please do not read directly from your script(s).
TWO PERFORMANCES: We would like you to perform two nights with the same group. Once to try out your piece, a second time to either perform another excerpt or improve upon your previous performance.
Q&A: We will host a short Q&A after the show. We will start off with questions similar to the ones below:
- What inspired you to write this piece?
- What message(s) do you hope was conveyed in your piece?
- How can the audience stay in touch with you and your upcoming projects?
We will then open it up to audience for any questions they might have.
TIME LIMIT: Performance pieces can be a maximum of 20 minutes long. There is no minimum time limit.
TECH NEEDS: Tech time for performers is limited. We prefer to book performances with no technical needs beyond light and sound cues. If you have instruments, you will need to operate them on your own; the tech cannot patch/plug anything into the soundboard. No projections.
REHEARSALS: Tech rehearsals and a SUPER BRIEF cue-to-cue will be held from 6pm-7pm on the same night as your performance.
NOT ALLOWED: No fire, glitter, body paint, or messy foods are allowed on stage.
SHOW INFO: Call time for performers 5:45pm | Doors open 6:30pm |Show starts 7pm | No intermission
NOTE: We encourage all to apply, regardless of whether you performed on previous Monday Night Marshes or Monday Night MarshStream.
~ CHANGES WE’VE MADE TO THE PROGRAM ~
Q&A: We will now host a short Q&A at the end of the show. Questions will cover topics such as inspiration for writing the piece and how the audience can get more information about any of your other upcoming performances. See “What We Are Looking For” below for more information on the structure of the post-show Q&A.
INTRODUCTIONS: Previously, we introduced all of the evening’s performers at one time during the pre-show speech. We will now introduce each each individual performer right before going on stage. This will help the audience understand what they are about to see next, especially since the majority of performances are excerpts from larger pieces.
SHOW TIME: Doors will open at 6:30pm. The show will start at 7pm.
~ HOW TO APPLY FOR MONDAY NIGHT MARSH ~
Please follow ALL of the instructions below so that we can get back to you as quickly as possible. If you do not include all of the information, your submission review will be delayed. The deadline for submission is Monday, June 6, 2022

Email your submission to mondaynight@themarsh.org
TITLE OF YOUR PIECE: Tell us the title of your piece.
BLURB: Let us know what your piece is about. You can include a section where you freely talk about the piece, and another section where you include the blurb you would like us to use on the website.
Please do not send an entire script; we will not have time to review full scripts. You may, however, send us one page from your script. If you have a video or a clip of a previous performance–whether or not it’s the same piece you are submitting to us–feel free to send that as well.
ARTIST BIOGRAPHY: Tell us about yourself! You can include a section where you freely talk about yourself, and another section where you include the bio you would like us to use on the website.
PHONE NUMBERS: Provide us with your phone number.
AVAILABILITY: Review the schedule of open dates below. Tell us which pair of dates you CAN do in order of preference. We suggest sending us at least 3 pairs of dates you can do, although you are welcome to give us more. If you cannot do both paired nights, we will not sign you up for just one date. Note that if you are only available for one set of dates, we may not be able to get you in.
SCHEDULING: The deadline for submissions is Monday, June 6, 2022. We will get back to you about whether you have been selected to perform by Friday, June 10, 2022.
~ Open Dates For Spring 2022 Series ~
Due to the large number of submissions we receive, we cannot give everyone an evening. However, we will do our best. If we cannot give you a date for the fall 2022 series, we encourage you to submit for the spring 2023 series.
