W. Kamau Bell and Jacob Kornbluth recently released their new animated series called “Talk Boring to Me“. The series examines the most relevant social issues facing the US in easy-to-understand videos that capture Bell’s trademark humor undercut with teachable moments.

“Talk Boring to Me” is a Jacob Kornbluth Production, visualized by Idle Hands Studios, written by Jacob Kornbluth and W. Kamau Bell, presented by W. Kamau Bell, produced by W. Kamau Bell, Kelly Rafferty, Lisa Kleiner Chanoff, and Elena Chavez Quesada, with music by Strikecast Audio. Funded by the Walter and Elise Haas Fund and the Chavez Family Foundation, the series was developed as a tool to educate viewers about the myriad issues impacting the US right now.

Each of the 4-5 minute videos in the “Talk Boring to Me” series tackles a specific social issue and offers a call-to-action for viewers to get involved with that organization’s efforts to affect change.

Jacob Kornbluth’s feature films, Inequality for All (with Robert Reich), Haiku Tunnel (with Josh Kornbluth), and The Best Thief in the World (with Mary-Louise Parker) all premiered at Sundance. Films, Saving Capitalism, and Love & Taxes were released in 2017. Jacob directed and produced episodes of Years of Living Dangerously, a TV series which one him an Emmy Award. Jacob is a co-founder, with Robert Reich, of Inequality Media, a non-profit that uses video to explain complex economic issues in a way that everyone can understand. He has directed over 100 short form pieces for clients that range from corporate to non-profit. Jacob started his career as a writer and director in the theater where he collaborated on and directed three successful solo shows in San Francisco. The Moisture Seekers, Pumping Copy and the Face by the Door were all nominated for or won ‘Best Of The Bay’ awards and successfully toured the country, and a later version of The Moisture Seekers, called Red Diaper Baby, has been included in anthologies of the best one man shows of the 90’s. Jacob Kornbluth is an award winning writer and director. He won an Emmy for his work on Years of Living Dangerously, a special jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival for his feature Inequality for All, and various audience, acting, and directing awards at film festivals across America and Europe. His theater work has been nominated or won ‘Best of the Bay’ awards. Jacob was finalist for the NHK new filmmakers award, a fellow at the Sundance Screenwriting Labs twice, and the Sundance Directing lab once.

Stephanie Weisman founded and has been the Artistic/Executive Director of The Marsh since its inception in 1989. Under her leadership, The Marsh has grown from a one-night-a-week performance series to producing 600-700 shows annually on its four stages. In addition to its developing work performance series, The Marsh’s programs include: artist-in-residencies, after-school and summer workshops for youth both onsite and in 5 SFUSD, and performance development classes, workshops and Performance Initiatives. In 1996 Stephanie spearheaded the drive to successfully buy their 12,000 sq ft facility on Valencia Street in San Francisco. This increased The Marsh’s programs four-fold as well as provided for a stable Bay Area arts organization. In 2010, The Marsh added a second venue in Berkeley. In 2020, Stephanie initiated MarshStream. She is currently at work developing her opera, Aphrodisia, with dancer, Wei Wang.
