Overlooked Latinas: Set in January 2021, this new queer telenovela farce follows two queer Latinx best friends collaborating on a television pilot about trailblazing Latinx movie stars of yesteryear. While this retro telenovela gets picked up by a network, similar melodrama hits in real life.
Artist Biography
Tina D’Elia is a Bay Area award-winning solo performer, actor, casting director, and screenwriter. Tina is the writer and performer of her newest solo show Overlooked Latinas developed in David Ford’s classes. Tina and her director Mary Guzmán are excited to bring this queer telenovela farce to The Marsh in San Francisco! Tina performed her show to a packed, standing ovation audience on June 5th, 2019 at The Marsh, Rising Star, main stage last spring.
Tina’s west coast premiere of Overlooked Latinas at the Brava Theater (2019) received a successful audience response of multiple standing ovations and sold-out houses. Tina’s solo show: The Rita Hayworth of this Generation, also directed by Mary Guzmán and developed by David Ford’s dramaturgy, won Best of Fringe (2015) and won Best of Sold Out Shows at the San Francisco Fringe Festival (2015).
